Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Kae Martyndale

Waiting

Silence engulfs the room
Where Catherine sits and waits
Impatiently counting the seconds
Tick, tock, tick, tock
She waits, for the change is near
She waits for the news that will not come
She prays for the peace good news will bring
While she braces herself for the worst
So many moments she has spent
So many moments wasted
Sitting, wondering what the news will bring
Tick, tock, tick, tock
The seconds tick by
And the clock rushes forward
And still Catherine waits,
When will the news come?
Sometimes the clock seems to freeze
And the news will not come near
And sometimes Catherine needs to wait
One more day, a few more seconds, one more year

Great! You created a sense of suspense and anticipation that felt incredibly real to me, and the way you wrote about Catherine makes me think that the news is very, very important, perhaps about a war. This is a very captivating piece.

This reminded me of my aunt Catharine, who died a few weeks ago from cancer. She had to do a lot of waiting...

I loved the tension that you put into this. There is a lot of suspense, and it keeps us wondering what is going to happen.

It's truly great! I loved it. Amazing work.

It's amazing what can go through our minds when we're waiting. We all seem to be waiting for something...that we never quite receive.

Very thoughtful poem.

Great write!
