for the women in my life that have been affected by abuse
You whisper your abstracted promises and incandescent lies into the ears of unsuspecting victims and they creep their way down into the pit of their stomach we mistake them for butterflies. They clawed their way up our throats, they made it out, bruised our tongues, and scrambled onto our skin this is your magic act and our eyes are blindfolded little did we know the tingling sensation was just the tip of a knife. When we removed the blindfold all the magic was gone. We were left with scraps and recordings of the times we could have sworn that we were the nightingale. So we sang our ballads and hymns, strained our voices, and lost them to the mercy of the night.
So now every man looks like a magician and every song sounds like an insufferable orchestra of protests and mistakes you, you, you steal our voice, embezzle our happiness, and rob us of ever being able to open our hearts again you’re addicted to the taste of torment
This is powerful words and thoughts. I liked the feel of real life and lesson learn. You create bad situation and deadly and honest ending. Thank you Cat for sharing the excellent poetry.
