don't look back

don't look back

A Poem by KWP

and soon I will be gone

and yet

everso thankful of our time spent

take the melodramatics away

you always knew it wouldn’t last forever

moments do that you know

pass you by

and all I ask

is you remember fondly

this big love

nestled in a reservation

full of dancing hearts

only for you

we were only ever meant to splash

in

and out

of each others lives

for now my friend,

I say continue your journey

in a forward motion

don’t look back

for I have already said my final

toorah …

Going on 63 myself & never been married, haven't lived with a guy in 30 years, so I can really relate to the casual independence being stated here. It seems like it's not widely accepted in our culture for women to be completely comfortable with relationships we splash in & out of. Like we're supposed to be more clingy. Guys always say to me: it's a shame that a woman like you is still single. Now what the f**k does that mean? Your poem is the antidote to all that. I love the acceptance. Some people are not meant to be the kind that stick around. You state this in a gentle & self-assured way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I am also reminded here of something George Carlin once said..."there's a moment coming, here it comes, it's almost here, here it is, aw s**t, it's gone"

i have done that splash in and out of each other's lives thing before...sometimes it is better not to overstay a welcome...that happened with my first real girlfriend and probably still the love of my life...due to being young, and me leaving for college, it was best we parted....what is sad is wondering what could have been if we had stayed together, but what is positive is that we never had a chance for the feelings to wear thin...there are only good memories.
we both went on our separate journeys, and yet when we see each other now...there is that look, that feeling that it seems we both still have...deep in the vault.
wow, thanks for this poem...i always like thinking of her...and you reminded.

Beautifully poignant in its sadness and yet uplifting in the love of letting someone go with a good heart and without animosity. Nicely penned piece.

cheers my friend X
a sad tale says i! :( but not .. recognizing the end is probably as important as the beginning when one thinks about it ... love the "splash" personification ... perfect imagery ... the title is a cliche' but works real good here in my opinion .. i instantly relate .. and the advice is timeless .. universal .. and applies to more than a love relationship ... so glad to have stopped to read this poem ... there is a comfortable feel to it even tho its a "goodbye" ... and a drawn out struggle implied ... so its a cleansing for the speaker ... reading this experience makes me just sit here a minute ... try and grasp it ... as if i am the one who "she" is saying goodbye to :((((((((((((((((((((((
