I Am

for a typhoon can not be tamed 

you must let it run it course 

and here you wish for me to change 

step aside darling if you

cannot face the full brunt of 

this storm inside my soul

I have witnessed snippets of 

The Walking Dead 

- dead, you see, I am not

you may walk your tightrope 

balancing in life to

observe the world spinning around you

I will be the salmon 

swimming upstream 

slicing the water and flying through

the wide open mouth 

of a hungry grizzly 

it’s a risk 

darling, I do not begrudge 

your slow walk to death 

but please don’t clip my wings

don’t dampen the fire in my soul 

please don’t tame the beast 

there is a ravaging life-force within 

demanding I make the most of 

every breath while I

dance in every moment 

this life of mine 

was always supposed to be taken 

high speed

I can only be thankful 

without regret 

for being me
