My Last Teardrop - For You

My Last Teardrop - For You

A Poem by KWP

it was a naive mistake

trying in vain to push away the pain

 - of you

the memory of you re-enter’s too easily within ....

a lyric sung, only for us

a photo encapsulating purest devotion

the aroma of you brewing fresh coffee in the morning

a glimpse of receding sun, ’no sunset is the same’ you said

fabric brushing against my skin, you always were so close

the indulgent taste of our favourite desert shared one-spoon

it is all too easy to think of you

tightness grasps my inner

encapsulating my outer

thinking of you

alone

desperate to escape the dark halls

that were once so brightly illuminated

next to you

a familiar wetness in my eyes

last one, last one

I shall allow you this one last tear

I promise you, last one

our love was like a waterfall after the monsoon

your tear cascades away leaving my vision

I inhaled your sweet affections

now acridity greets my every turn

as the liquid pearl runs down my nose

like the desert winds combining

our essence intertwined in a unity returning us home

the sands of time have deemed me empty and barren

as the salty-drop etches across my desolate unkissed cheek

your kisses! Oh!

the touch, the taste

manna from heaven

a cornucopia

you said ‘I am here to satiate you’

you never did

you always left me begging for more

.... of you

as the tiny bead of sadness crosses my lips

you taught me how to view life with a child’s eyes

to sing, to laugh, to joke with life

introducing me to

a new wonderment with each passing moment

I sense your infectious smile

it warms my now unused heart

as the last morsel of you journeys across the flesh on my chin

just like when you traversed across my body

teaching a rare, unmasked devotion

not many experience that place, the higher plane, together

a privileged gift between us

a burst

an explosion

a momentary unity

you, me and the everywhen

... nothing was ever meant to last

the night breeze greets my face

allowing me to I trace the trail of your tear

our brief twinkling of love

in a world that only moves forward

I wait, feel

time to accept the all

thank you for your time with me

you reminded me to grow

now it’s time for me to let you go

and in my final exhale

shared with you

your tear drops

and now I say 'goodbye my love'

KWP
I am trying to encapsulate the feeling of loss and learning that it is ok to pass through it, feel all the emotions that you need to, all of them, learn accept them as a part of you, and know that it is ok to feel hard and deep. Then remember to always move forward in the beautiful expression of life that we all are ...

your thoughts - oh yes please X

I apologize for not honoring your request sooner. I am truly blessed to have read and been able to critique your writing.
That was perfection you penned in your excelling narrative. The words and lines harmonized so artistically to reflect the deep love and passion you experienced.
Your words paint an emotional masterpiece of the love you shared.
The poignancy of your lost joy is captured by your similes, your repetitive and descriptive words and phrases.
You express the sadness you feel with eloquence. Your poem becomes a catharsis, which gives you the strength to say goodbye.
I love the generous heart that you have, because you appreciate the gift you were given.
Thank you for sharing yourself with us.

you oh so lovely Boss ... and yeah what you said was what I was aiming for - so SNAP X
well ...i think you accomplished what you set out to do ..its almost an encapsulated short story ... several chapters long ... i remain an optimist at heart and so i appreciate the positive ending ... i was fascinated how the tear traced the speakers face for me ..almost as a painter's brush across a canvas ... i have to say it is not my favorite of yours .. tips a little too love lorn for me .. but there are a whole lot of words and phrases and lines that stand out for me ... personifications ... i am reminded of this:

i had a friend in the early 70's married to the sweetest and most lovely "hippie" woman i have known ..and he was her "hippie" man ... we were all part of the "Jesus" movement and attended the same wild church .. she left him suddenly it seemed ..ran off with a motorcycle guy plus gang .. (true story) .. that young hippie man went off the edge ... he was one of the most calm and centered guys i knew back then ..but love wasted him bad .. he did recover after several weeks in a hospital actually .. wonder where he is now ..wonder if he ever shed that final tear :) glad your back from vacation KWP! always a treat to read your stuff!

ha! thank you my friend and wishing you the best for the new year X
You managed to express many of my thoughts over the past 2 1/2 years. Brought fresh tears to my eyes.
I know moving forward is just a part of the healing process. For me, I never want to forget all of the good times...but I long to forget the unknowing pain filled eyes he had at the last when he did not even know who I was. I still can see his panic...pain filled not knowing eyes. Valentine
