Who Ruined The Meal?

Who Ruined The Meal?

A Poem by KWP

quietude of the mind

the desired destination

but not today

enraged thought

choleric mind

examination perhaps?

of why oh why

the racist human

can readily purchase a voice

 on this day

the future that was once the past

the pot’s been simmering

without reaching boiling point

for a while now

we ALL could have shared a nice meal

as a family

damn shame some fool turned

up the heat

everything we worked toward

has been ruined

i feel really bad :((((((( deleted my first reaction :(((( not sure of the pole this poem clings to??? feel the same way the day my da' said " I am so sorry that your children and grand children are inheriting this world"
my father was an Irish, Catholic, Democrat gone Independent when the man Clinton avowed ... "I never..."
I was rocked on my heels by his comments .. my Dad loved his grandchildren to pieces ... :( i want this poem to be more straight forward in its leaning ;) and at the same time i respect the swirl of poets prerogatives :))

ps .... human beings are flawed ... always ... but this white American middle class man ... can say with confidence .. racism is not in my home ... and way gone down the road in America ... bad things and people will always be with us here on Earth .. so very sad! what a fantastic write KWP! ... comments are reactionary ;)

I am reading this and wondering if it has to do with The Great American Melting Pot, a term used to describe the many races that can be found within the U.S.A.

As for turning up the heat, is this referring to racial prejudice ?

We do appear to have lost some of the progress or as I expect the truth is some of the hatred and bigotry has been held in check and little things here and there have brought to the forefront, the issues that we still face as a country and world. Nice write.

This seems to be true in many places on this earth. If people are too bigoted here on earth to visit the Masters house [church, temple, etc.] how can they think He will let you into His Heavenly home. God is love, not hatred. Valentine

I love the metaphor KWP. Well expressed and how times will only get worse. Technology has brought everyone closer so everyone wants the same things!

we were headed in the right direction once...but seems all the progress we made in love and understanding toward others is diminishing...and we are becoming just as prejudiced as were so many years ago...

i really like the metaphor of all sitting down at the meal together...but now there are empty seats.
