I always hear the whispers. I truly feel this feeling more when I'm at the botanical garden with camera in hand. This written word of "Whispers" was a good read. Thank you KWP

the "tap tap tapping on the very shell of my essence" is a great resonating touch and I love your format and word choices. Yes, I have often felt this way a majority of the time. I think it is because as poets our feelings are deep and we are not surface dwellers in this life... we see something that affects us, it must be addressed and written down, encapsulated, for the next generation of poets and thinkers... Good work.

My soul cares not for lots of thing and I do have to stay true to myself.
Hey no one else is going to do it haha...
Excellent and very relatable write!
oh my goodness!! the whispers ... how we need to plug in the amplifier but waaaaaaaaaaaaay to many times ignore, and suppress them ... i especially enjoy thinking on these lines:
"ump into the heartfelt darkness
of the unknown known"
the unknown known!!! i love it!!
the tone of your poem is gentle ..yet it tweeks, pokes and challenges at the same time ... one doesn't have to shout to be heard eh!? well done says i!

I hear whispers if I don't take my meds, but that's a different story. :)
As for the whispers to which you are referring, I think that might be your conscience. We all have one, KWP. And yes, the whisper is not very loud. Usually we have an added one; a different voice, louder and more demanding that wants what it wants when it wants it.
Which is our childish selfishness. Growth as you mention, the shell of your essence, truly can be reached by blocking that one out and instead listening to your inner voice ...

"A little voice inside of me is saying, "This is a bad idea." But I can barely hear that little voice, because an even louder little voice is screaming, "Let the twelve-year-old drive !" Now punch it !

It was a madcap and crazy romp, and while I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, it was likely a far stranger image than Seuss would've ever conceived.

I am reading there now ... and very sad to see they will NOT be making any more live-action movies from Dr. Seuss stories. Man - I would've loved to have seen that considered The Cat In The Hat Returns.
And me and Chris have been talking every week now about Bartholomew And The Oobleck and hope it will be made into a movie. It seems now if it does that it will only be animated or CGI, the latter being more appreciated I think. Horton Hears A Who with Jim Carrey was definitely a lot of fun.
