Ahaha... This made me giggle.:) Wasn't even aware that there was a leap second recently... I probably would have been like 'Crap, I forget!' and as soon as I said it my second would have been over. But if I would have known what would I have done... Hmm.:) Loved this piece for more than the chuckle. A second is fleeting, but nonetheless precious. The cherishing of time. Thank you for sharing, KWP!
Wow, this is good, KWP. My son told me last week there was a leap second, didn't know myself. I love the light humor in the poem, it's very refreshing on day that promises to be very warm (39°C: the warmest day in Belgium since more than 100 years). :) Rudi

Yes, indeed, I'm Flemish. I haven't seen the film yet, but I've heard it's good. :) Rudi
Life is like an ice cream enjoy it before it ends. Time and tide waits for no one. Indeed a unique combination of reality put to words KWP. God bless :)
An elegant ode to the ticking clock , this poem brings out the gist of the seminal truth of human presence on terra firma. It is eye opening for us to enjoy each and every moment of life and the experience all the trials and tribulations like a spectator, without infringing upon our joy of being alive. This poem celebrates life in general.
It advises us not to postpone our happiness for a probable future date, and to remain happy in the present second.
Very superbly written poetic piece, that is the keystone to happiness.
Let us not ignore the small joys of life waiting for some big happiness, that seldom comes.
Little little joys make up a joyous life.
I commend KWP in penning lines that is in no way inferior to Wordsworth.
' we are always told -- live in the now - but -- plan your leapsecond -- with a when, why and how '
Well, now.. there were the money people and types sitting on boards (idjits, chairs are much more comfy) waiting for disaster to strike in that oops its gone second.. and you come along and turn it into a song, a rhyme, a poem, and thought -then, shake it around and make your readers larf! Love it, will savour it all July 1st because.. :)

For my brother it was Leap Year Day. My mom told him if he was going to make a fool of himself by getting married, Do it on April Fools Day. So he did, he enjoyed many seconds in his lifetime , Valentine
I have never heard of a leapsecond until today so thank you for something new I have learned. An extra second I think I will look out my window right....... now. I saw rain water dripping off the leaves of my Crape Myrtle tree. Another second I look toward my back porch and see it is sunny in the background but raining. My daughter is standing there and I see the sun and rain behind her. Thank you for sharing your nice poem and the extra second you gave me to see what I just described.
