a poem of acceptance

a single tear 

rolls down my cheek 

thinking of you 

in goodbyes

parting ways

i dared not speak 

darkness 

offers brand new light 

nothing shall 

remain the same 

connection is 

so brief 

together riding 

along the plane 

never venturing 

underneath 

we pushed we tried 

with all our might 

both knowing

all was lost 

a single moment 

was our plight 

love given 

at no cost  

as the tear 

is swept away 

within the gentle

evening air 

acknowledging

the lessons taught  

stripping my 

soul to bare

Amazing! This really captures the emotion of saying goodbye to someone you love. This is exactly how I felt leaving my ex at the airport when I used to go visit her. You did a fantastic job at balancing the emotion and describing the setting it put me back in that place and time and nearly brought a tear to my eye.

I wonder if this was a love affair abroad that had to end with the boarding of the plane heading separate ways? Regardless of the scenario, the sentiment is there, I feel this one, been there once or twice or 59 times.... :-)

A journey with a sense of recognition loaded on one hand with the weight of the relationship, with the struggles and of course the what was good but the honest declaration that that time has come to part ways and it has left a mark. On the cheery side as it seems that the lesson is one worth paying attention too foundations will be laid to try not to repeat it again.
