Homeless

Homeless

an ode to the homeless

"Homeless"

My heart breaks when I see
Less fortunate than me
A soul with nothing at all
On their knees they fall

People judge, look in disgust
with eyes that show their distrust
No sympahty, empathy or pity
So many homeless in this city

Their stories remain untold
As they sit there in the cold
No-one cares for their plight
Makes the streets such a sight

If only they took time to know
The person in this awful show
They might find they can relate
to how they got into this state

Life hands out harsh cards to some
things they cannot overcome
With care, support and love
Perhaps they could rise above

My heart breaks when I see
People hindered and not free
lying there in the rain soaked streets
all hopes and dreams in tattered sheets
