Watched a tribute to Bill

What an absolute thrill

laughed til I nearly died

laughed til I actually cried

Left me wanting more

wonder if neflix store

old Billy Connolly stuff

I just can't get enough

"Everything is tickety boo"

With the odd swear word or two

Laughs at embarrassing ills

down to earth, no thrills

relates to people well

thinks he's going to hell

well he bloody just might

give the Devil some light

I think he is spot on

when he says "people come on"

laughter best medicine true

could've stopped wars too

if they'd only laughed instead

of getting it in their head

to cause mayhem and strife

Laughter...the love of my life

i did not know he was an accomplished comedian and have not listened to any of his shows ..but do recognize him from a few of his movies ... he must have been just the right thing at just the right time to move you to this tribute ... thanks for sharing .. i did google him to learn more about him ..so thank you for that! :) laughter is a healing balm ..no doubt about it!

we were watching old utube sketches of him last night, was sore laughing - he has such a unique way of talking about subjects others would at all costs avoid and making hilarity out of it - long live Bill :)

His speech is similar to the Irish - swearing is just used to colour the language. Me ma used to say that when we speak 'one F is tripping over another'. haha

ah yes so true, I love listening to the Irish accent, sometimes (well a lot) I talk in an Irish accent, I don't know why and one of my nieces actually said "isn't it cool we've got an Irish auntie" she actually thought I was Irish - it's because of my early day friendships with the Irish couple next door's grandkids, loved the bone of them :)

I adore Billy being a Scot myself. I grew up with his humour. Loved the first two stanzas then it sort of fell away?

Agreed - I was trying to explain some of his work and of course that is impossible as he goes off on so many tangents so I lost it there you're so right - it's sad to see him now when he used to be so vibrant, vital - but still got light and laughter :)

how long have you lived there? you must miss Glasgow it's a great place too, my husbands from Linwood and his work takes him through there a lot during the week but I think he loves it - we always have a good time when we go there - went to see Still Game at the Hydro last month was brilliant :)
