"Sometimes"

Sometimes feeling lonely,

sometimes feeling blue

overwhelming sense of loss

you don't know what to do

Sometimes feeling angry

the damage you could do

if you unleashed your wrath

on the chosen few

Sometimes feeling confused

about the rules they make

all these politicians

most of them are fake

Sometimes feeling happy

jumping around for joy

you just heard of the birth

of a precious girl or boy

Sometimes feeling contented

things could not be better

and just when you're thinking that

you get an upsetting letter

and emotions swing the other way

not happy like the other day

up and down like a bloody yo yo

it's just the way life is you know

This helps to understand others close to me who's life goes this way. I enjoy this new piece. A question? You still get letters? I think the last time I got a letter was from my little brother 18 years ago. I dislike this digital age for that reason. One suggestion, I would shorten the word "contented" to merely "content". For myself it fit the rhyme better. I also have a poem title "Sometimes". If you have the time wander over to my side of the Cafe. Looking forward to your next write.

ha good point Michael but yes I still get some letters, one recent one was from the police regarding a fine for driving in a bus lane- put me in a right bad mood lol...I've got a case of old letters to friends and family that I love re-reading on a nothing to do, rainy day - your right "content" does sound better, thanks for that - look forward to reading more of your stuff too - :)

I get letters from the toll police all the time. When we go to the big city we never have the exact change for all these off ramp tolls so we just run them, lol. My current one is for 1.50, lol. Check out my poem Sometime.

Sometimes I feel sad.
My heart feels cold and blue,
but then I spot a lovely dove
~ today that dove was You!

Seriously, I enjoyed this piece. It was good in both content and style. The rhymes were smooth and unforced and the overall message of the piece came through clearly. Our emotions can seem random and repetitive at times, like a never-ending cycle. I really like how this piece portrays that message with its repetition and almost sing-song stanzas. A minor critique, though: I feel like the line "jumping around for joy" would flow better if worded "jumping 'round for joy" (take notice of the word "around"). But whether you make this change or not, this still an excellent piece. Thanks for sharing.
