Old box of memoriesA Poem by KT-BSurely everyone has one, a box, case full of memories...."Old box of memories" Every time I say I'm away to tidy my room I'm away for hours, some would assume That my room must be immaculate by now But I haven't even started somehow The first thing I saw was my wee grey case under my bed, it's a dam disgrace So much stuff under that bed all in some sort of order that been said So I wipe the dust of my memory box I know I'll be here for hours as I undo the locks First thing I see are cards, 18th, 21st sorry your leaving Trying to remember the folks who were grieving There's old pics here too me and my sister Jo looking cute in wee kilts in the garden just so then there's one of us kissing my bro on each cheek he was always so full of it his patter did reek there's us standing by Dad's van behind him stands the insurance man I can also see the alpine van and see the streets we always ran Next I come across my old greats Poems about my siblings and mates Funny wee odes that they all adored things i'd written when I was bored Letters from friends and postcards too Takes me right back and memories of you I laugh, I cry as I go through it all I look out the window and see it's night fall Oh well that was a wasted day But it doesn't feel like it I say I'm exhausted all the same of that wee case of memories that's to blame ***************** © 2016 KT-BFeatured Review
