If there is HellA Poem by K. Sikes
If there is Hell,
that's where I was. And the funny thing is, I can only see it from where I now stand. Next to you. What can I say? We were not supposed to be, were not allowed to be. But we are destined to inhabit the same mind. The same heart, the same consciousness. We are fated to walk side by side, to defy the laws of "appropriate," and write the rules of love. We write the rules of love, it's true. But how can that be? When so many have loved before? The answer is so pathetically simple. No one has loved you before, the way I did, the way I do. The way I will. And oh, so scandalous. But how can instinct and fate, carry any amount of scandal? That answer is also simple. It is not our love, my dear. The minds and wishes, of the people around us, are the ones telling us no. And I thank my innate nature, to fight my mind, and follow my instinct, for the reason we are together today. I was another's when I met you, But oh, when I met you. Those eyes of yours, those eyes that are darker than all others, and brighter than all others. They told me what I needed to do And here I am. A fool for you. A fighter for you. And if there is a God, then he planned this. With the creation of Adam and Eve, like the currents in the ocean, He knew. And if there is not, then there is something else. Because passion like this, is never accidental.
