Heart Holder

Heart Holder

A Poem by K. Sikes

Oh, Heart Holder,
you do not know
the poison laced agony you cause
that feels so divine.
You wake me up, Heart Holder.
You shut me down.
My body tingles when near your scent,
my eyes drown when they sense your pain.
My purpose is filled by filling the air next to you.
My will is stunned by your coldness.
I knew no chains like this before,
I'll know none after.
Should there be one?
I do not know.
Though I believe you do know,
and I believe you do not.
For even when I deserve most to resent you,
I ache for your predicament.
So take your time,
and choose wisely, Heart Holder.
For my affection is yours to keep.
Until you relinquish ownership.
Then I would have no choice,
though I want nothing less,
but to find something more,
and fill the void next to the one you'll always leave.

You have a knack for mysterious writing that is written cryptically. You take the poetry and make it seem like a classic piece, one that takes more than one read through to understand. I like the use of the word void, it has nice scifi connotations as well as loneliness and lack of emotion. I think it might help your writing if you didn't try sticking to a strict format and used the fact that in poetry not all words are relevant in telling the story.
