Ashes

Ashes

A Poem by K. Sikes

I hold so much love
yet there is not a soul
who can
Receive my love.
It is not that they can't,
but that they won't.
My love is but a milestone
to something more.
I cradle their hearts
between my teeth.
Yet when they set my love to fire,
I cannot bare to bite down.
Instead, I release their idle hearts
and concede to the form they chose for me.
And that is ash.
Fret not.
I will rise again.
Damaged, no less.
But radiant of love as was before.
Only now I claim that to be wiser.
"I have learned my mistakes." I assure.
And perhaps I had.
But with only time I return to ash.

Beautiful stanza you've started the poetry with. Lovely & very thought provoking to be read. I understand, sometimes, the love brings tears to eyes; hurt to heart & the memories to broken life but whatever it's, I guess, it's all must to be happened cause.. without having proper understanding of heartaches, no spirit can be healed up and no heart can learn the value of love. So, It's better to put the past into "Ashes". Very beautiful & heartfelt poetry it is. Great job!
