Wolfsong

Wolfsong

A Poem by Alex P.
"

Have you ever had something call to a part of you that's so deep, you didn't know it was there?

"

A shiver crawls along my spine,

To settle somewhere deep,

For I heard it and now I know,

That this night I will not sleep

The cry is long and mournful,

Searching for its kin,

The same cry reaches me,

And lingers beneath my skin

I want so badly to return the call,

To let her know she’s not alone,

To sing the ancient verse with her,

That pierces me till the bone

It wakens something feral inside,

Some part of my kindred soul,

And each new note that she croons,

Makes me struggle for control

I wish to join them,

Run in their woeful pack

But I know that if I give in

I may never look back

The need to belong is powerful.WE are pack animals after all
I think we all feel that urge sometimes but fear to give up our imagined independence

i think everyone has feelings like this. finding something that just touches to the core and makes every thing all electric and tingling and urges you to go go go. this is a writing i'll be coming back to and rereading.
