Eternal Morning

Eternal Morning

A Poem by Alex P.
"

A teenage girl's thoughts the morning after a big turning point in her life

"

Streams of sunlight filter through the blinds,

Rousing me from my lazy slumber

When I open my eyes and see you beside me,

I can’t help the smile that touches my lips

The light dances across your bare shoulders,

Illuminating each inch of it in celestial radiance

Laying with you like this in complete tranquility

Makes me want to wake like this always

Memories of last night form a procession in my mind

And make my smile widen

Of course everyone says it’s wrong,

It’s too soon,

But how could they possibly know what we share?

I remember how you carried me to the bed,

Throwing clothes and covers aside

And as we danced in our fervent passion,

The clock on the nightstand cast its red glared upon us,

As it counted away the hours

In our throes we’re ignorant,

To the pictures and posters on the walls,

To the dog who noses curiously into the room,

Then out again, his curiosity quenched

We are ignorant to the desktop piled with undone work,

And to the thoughts of those we will see tomorrow,

Bright and early on Monday morning

Now I raise my hand and trace my fingertips down your back,

Following the path your spine creates

Your shiver makes me giggle

Suddenly, I realize that I’m cold,

And I nestle against you for warmth

The casual way your arm drapes around me

Makes my heart swell beneath my breast

I relish in the feel of your breath against my shoulder,

Watching it raise gooseflesh along my skin

There is nothing that needs to be done,

No demands from those who would mar this perfection

All there is, is you and me

Together intertwined in this blissful piece of eternity

Well, I am admittedly surprised I am the first to comment on this nice poetic write. Thanks for that little glimpse into a big turning point in a girls life. It was sweet, no.... sensual, actually it is oozed with that radiant light after a night of bliss. I really enjoyed this read. Great write~

I would have loved to see how she'd react if she got pregnant or something. Now THAT would be a turning point in her life.

Anyway, this was totally a teenage girl speaking, so thumbs up for that.
What else can I say? You're a great poet, but somehow I like you as a storyteller more.

Keep writing. This was yet another great one.
