Retrospect

If I knew then,

What I know now,

Would I change a thing?

 

Would I keep myself from the pain I’ve felt,

Took that chance when it showed itself,

Passed by people without bothering?

 

The things that shaped me,

Made me who I am today,

In retrospect,

Was the journey not worth the end result?

 

If I knew then,

What I know now,

I wouldn’t change a thing.

 

Because I know,

Without a doubt,

I needed that suffering

 

I am who I am,

Nobody else,

Because of what I’ve been through

 

But above all,

All those happenings,

Trials, tribulations and shortfalls,

 

They’ve all lead me to you.

I don't know if I could go back would I change somethings, yes I would. Yes my past makes me, me but there are things in my past I would rather not have had to experience at all even if it changed me today. Yes I know all things works from the past to where we are now, :) This was a great write, enjoyed it.

Very good write. I have often reflected on whether I would go back and change things, even knowing that those things are what brought me to where I am now (the classic time travel conundrum). When in the bowels of hell, I have often thought I would change things to avoid that pain, that suffering, but when floating on the clouds of heaven, I have been reminded that there was a purpose, for, as you've said, "they've all lead me to you.".
