Angel Wings

Angel Wings

A Poem by Alex P.
"

Not my best, but surely not my worst

"

There was nothing in this world,

Where people were so wretched

And all that you were good for,

Was to be used like a tool

I walked these grey streets,

With angel’s wings tightly furled

Wishing for someone to save me,

Before these wings grew black with taint

Then I came across you,

I found something to believe in.

These once held so close to me,

Are finally spread open,

And I am finally free

You find the best within me,

And slowly draw her out

Even where others find fault,

Break me down and turn the feathers grey,

I watch as you erase the smudges,

And wash my doubt away

I thought I was the only one,

With these angel’s wings of mine,

But I was wrong,

And here you are,

With wings glowing brighter than the sun
