Playing Pretend

Playing Pretend

A Poem by Alex P.

I can still feel you,

Though your touch has cooled on my skin

I still sense your presence,

Though you’re not near

Next to you I sleep,

Wrapped in your embrace,

But when I open my eyes,

Back into my dreams you do flee

Upon thunderclouds your laugh comes to me,

Perhaps that is why I smile during storms

Your laughter is infectious,

Entrancing,

I wait for the next flash of your dazzling smile

I see your eyes in forest hues,

Browns and greens that watch me with such warmth

Maybe that is why I remain so calm,

For I know you are with me,

Watching over me

Your arms envelop me like the midmorning sun,

Such warm comfort you bestow upon me,

Then, the clouds take you away again,

Leaving me unsatisfied, yearning for your touch

I can still feel you,

Though your touch has cooled on my skin

I still sense your presence,

All I had to do,

Was let you in.

I have never lost a lover in such a way, so I can only imagine what it would be like to miss them. Through nature you were able to experience him again and that is just loving to me. Very sweet poem.

So sad...The loss of a loved one is never easy. Even though this is sad, it is written very well. Great poem :)
