Something to Believe InA Poem by Alex P.We all need somethingWounds coat
my body, Tearing me
to shreds Each cut
precise, As if
inflicted on purpose To maximize
the pain Around me
glitters shards of glass The hollow
mirror stands before me The
reflection I once knew Looking up
at me from the fragments Eyes cold
and dead and sightless But somehow
staring into my soul This is me, This broken
thing, This is what
you’ve got to work with But you don’t
seem to care, Not at all, As your lips
brush over each mutilation, Staining red
with my pain You give me
something to believe in Your touch
is so soft, To my raw,
aching skin, Your words
whisper hope Something I’d
lost along the way You give me
something to believe in You lift me
into your arms, Warm,
comforting and safe, To guide me
back to myself, Picking up
the pieces one by one You give me
something to believe in, A chance to
be whole again, Each kiss
breathes new life into me, Each night
in your arms heals a scar You give me something to believe in © 2014 Alex P. |
