Candle in the WindowA Poem by Alex P.There's never a rule for who or how to love. And even if there were, rules are meant to be brokenI count my
blessings, And the
first one is you, The only one
who could break through These walls
I’ve erected In the name
of protection Not knowing
myself That it was
a deception The look in
your eyes Is all I
need to feel at home And when you
hold me so tight It’s like I’ve
never felt alone These tears
I shed They’re a
different kind Each much
more potent than these words All carefully
rhymed The smell of
you on my pillow as I lay The sweet memory
of you lay laughing beneath me Keeps all
the nightmares and phobias away I yearn for
your touch To be held
in your arms once more This strange
new-old love for you It speaks to
my very core This new
type of love, I know I’ll
constantly have to fight for But stay by
my side, mo chridhe, There’s
nothing I want more © 2013 Alex P. |
