Sandy Hook Requiem

Sandy Hook Requiem

A Poem by Paul Allen Killebrew
"

A tribute to those lost at Sandy Hook

"

Beautiful Child

Won't you come into yon garden

Where the fruit is fresh and the dreams are wild

Beautiful Child

Hear there is no screaming

So uncover your ears, hear the thrush and her song

Beautiful Child

Know there is no darkness

Just a bright, shining sun with no chance of pain

Beautiful Child

Trust you will have shelter

And here you can wait for a better day

You're Beautiful

The full moon misses your wonder as the brook lets out a sigh

A silent wind comes to carry you home as the trees wave goodbye

Beautiful Child

Do you see the Jackanapes laughing

About the Maypole they skip and dance until dusk calls.

Beautiful Child

The trampoline awaits you

Reach for the stars, you can touch them if you try

Beautiful Child

There's open fields to run through

No Labyrinth of life for you to get lost... in

Beautiful Child

Your eyes they look so weary

You can close them if you want, there's nothing to fear

You're Beautiful

The hills look for you in the valley as the clouds clear from the sky

A gentle breeze sings a serenade as the clover waves goodbye

I hear you cry in my nightmares

As you plead for us to make it go away

Your world came crashing around you and I don't think we can reconcile the pain

So I offer you this garden

A safe place for you to play

I promise I will meet you there some day to see you smile again

This was written in the wake of December 14th, 2012. I was saddened by the events and this is how I vented. These are actually song lyrics.
