It's All About Choice...

It's All About Choice...

A Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge

It’s All About Choice…

Today I saw a flicker of a life that might have been

Had you simply been there to even hold my hand

If you had done what you said you’d do...

Vows, promises much less than true.

A little piece of a life we planned

I cry  sometimes to understand

Examining and digging deep

Ingrains itself in walls of sleep.

I walked away, I made the choice

I listened to my inner voice

It doesn’t mean it’s easy now

To wonder why and

wonder how?

"Had you simply been there to even hold my hand; If you had done what you said you'd do"... a series of simple, seemingly insignificant things that make all the difference. Great job in communicating the simple fact that "yes, it was my choice, and yes, it was the right choice, but nonetheless, it was a choice I hoped I would never have to make and it is far from easy".
"Today I saw a flicker of a life that might have been... a little piece of a life we planned"... two very powerful lines with strong lyrical qualities. I've said it before and will say it again... would love to see you put some of your words to music someday. Always a pleasure to review your work :)

I agree with Dani California and Lily1111 my favorite stanza in this poem is most definitely...

I walked away, I made the choice

I listened to my inner voice

As you probably can tell I believe in the inner voice and the strength you receive by listening to ityour heart always knows best...

"I walked away, I made the choice
I listened to my inner voice"

For me, the most powerful lines in this bittersweet poem. Intuition is to humans what instinct is to animals.
Don't look back for too long . . . you won't be able to see where you are going. Well written and truly enjoyed

Such extraordinary honesty - cathartic hopefully, and, beautiful expressed. So hope the future will bring you smiles - they're cheap, they're easy to come by, you just turn up the corners of your lips... then, God willing you feel them deep inside.

Thank you, thank you for sharing

A pleasure to read despite the melancholy and heartache.

Colorful, creative, poignant.

Why some men choose to lead women on with false promises, I'll never know.

Always trust that "inner voice".

Just because we make a choice; one we know to be the right one; doesnt mean we dont feel the loss or the pain. Sometimes the right choices are the hardest ones we make, those are the ones that can come back on those rainy days; the ones we turn over and over again within our hearts and souls. Our inner voices never lead us astray (I agree with Dani here) and life usually works out in the end when we heed them. that doesn't mean you don't feel the pain or that you aren't entitled to. Cry if you have to, cleanse yourself of that loss so you are open to the possibilities that await you.

*hugs*

Yes your choice but painful nonetheless and that pain likes to revisit from time to time just to remind you it's there, it's all about choice and there is no right or wrong just choices, haunting choices. I really feel this one Kath, I am constantly haunted by mine. You certainly hit a nerve here. Sad writing but very real.

I CAN IDENTIFY! JUST BECAUSE IT'S YOUR CHOICE DOESN'T MAKE IT EASY! THIS FLOWS WELL AND EXCELLENT WORD CHOICE. BARBARA

Kath, this is so bittersweet. A regret AND a celebration of freedom. That's life in a nutshell, isn't it? Those choices we make still leave us wondering, "What if??"

I am glad for who you are. As far as I'm concerned, you chose well.

Thank you for giving this to us. Excellent.

Love and light, dear one.
