This poem really touched me. There's not really any other way to explain it.
It reads perfectly fluent. I can imagine it sung as a slow acoustic song.
I feel like I connect with this on both levels - both being someone that has closed a book but also I think I have been the one with sad blue eyes and an impish grin.
Great write!
I really feel like this sometimes, and I think you've captured the emotion well. I can clearly see sadness, strength, and even some amusement at your situation. I also love the use of a book within a poem, which could have been written in a book.
this reminds me of that saying "if you love something, set it free" ...I love the "walk into the rain" at the end...almost as if they carry your well hidden tears with them with their good-bye....this had a magical flow throughout...and the rhyming pattern fit this piece well...nicely done, yet again. :-)
So achingly beautiful! I could imagine the poise you had while trying not to show any pain. I didn't only see deep emotion in this piece; I also saw a woman with strength, dignity and serenity. Yes, you are alive, girl! ;)
Beautiful, melancholy poem, Kath. Your structure, format and rhyming are awesome...very well crafted and written. I agree with the others, this definitely has a lyrical, melodic feel to it when read aloud.

Each line falls like a cold, steady rain. I love the illustration of tears mixed with the rain... wouldn't mind seeing you expand on that a little bit more. great job... write on!
Ooooh, this poem just throws you down on the ground and begs you to read it aloud and then read it aloud again with cymbals crashing in the background at appropriate times. Beautifully rendered from opening to close, so self-contained, a whole story in such a short poem, I could see this as a movie, from sun to rain, held within a single song. Wonderful poem.
Some of my work is very personal and some is flight taking fancy... a writer's prerogative... :)
Read something of mine and I will read something of yours - very nice and simple and what a way.. more..
