Never Stopped Looking

Never Stopped Looking

A Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge
"

Mrs. Friday has a family....who has been looking for her for 8 yrs.

"

We met nearly every Friday

for 'bout the last five years

What happened just last weekend

has brought me now to tears.

She wasn't there as always

I waited by the grass

Had cookies and some apples

and watched the time go past.

Talked to a friend this morning

who asked why did I wait

She said she thought I was the one

Mrs. Friday said was "great".

My friend works at a Center

for the homeless, lost and spent

A month or so back, she said

a questionnaire was sent

A woman in her thirties was looking,

she talked about her mom

I listened now so closely

still trying to be calm...

There were pictures and a necklace,

descriptions, records and a scar

I listened and my heartbeat raced

She'd wandered very far....

Mrs. Friday has a family back

somewhere in the mid-west.

The daughter drove with her two kids

to prove she passed the test

They can't disclose the city,

can't tell me of their plan.

Mrs. Friday said to hug me

and I would understand...

She didn't want ME lonely

or waiting looking lost

Said I should smile and think

of her and keep my fingers crossed.

A lovely ending... wow... who could have seen this one coming? I have enjoyed reading about Mrs. Friday and while I am happy that she has been recovered, she will clearly be missed. Your other two poems painted such a lovely picture of a woman in a not so lovely place in life. You touched this woman in a way that she will never forget. A friend for life.

I really like the way this is written. It has such a wonderul conversational tone to it that I feel like I am sitting across from you having coffee and you are telling me this story.

The closing lines are just wonderful.

Great job on this!
