Sweet GoodbyeA Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edgefor M
Just found a warm spot in the sun
lie on my back - can think it done.
Stretch my arms and arch my back
concentrate to stay on track.
Bounced a few thoughts in my head
feelings for you melted, dead.
Seems I'll settle one last score
cause I don't love you any more.
Last night I held you - told you straight
spoke the words and sealed my fate.
Didn't think you'd understand
I listened close to each demand.
Told you clearly from my heart
couldn't play an easy part.
Searched for gentle words to use
to let you see these feelings true.
You said you know I love someone
you saw my face, knew we were done.
Talked about some times we shared
smiled and said that you still cared.
You wanted please just one more chance
read my poem, said we could dance... :)
My tears made paths on saddened face
tender fingers lightly trace.
Could we be friends? you asked so sweet
Can you still call - can we still meet?
Held your big face in my hands
Please, please listen - understand
No, I can't spend this time with you
This isn't something I can do.
So now I leave with one last kiss
To be the girl - you'd never miss.
