They're Gone, They're Lost!

They're Gone, They're Lost!

A Poem by SPINNING ON that dizzy edge
"

Some are lost forever, others will never be the same.... I hate this - so very much.

"

I tried not to be bitter

then looked and tried to find

all my missing moments

captured here in time

The days I poured my heart out

combined in with my soul

I looked to find the writing cast

Pain comes to take it's toll.

How could they have been lost?

Why were they not protected?

How could they be so careless?

Left unguarded and neglected?

But  with half-felt inspiration

I search to gain "writing deleted"

Not hang my head, or drain my eyes

My patience is depleted...

I can't get back the stories

The poems that nearly bled

from days and thoughts and

verses spun - from somewhere in my head...

You captured exactly how it feels. I escpecially miss seeing my poems, and reading the comments on the bottom of the page. Now I have a whole lot of comments to poems which I have no idea fit with eachother. I'm saddened by the jumble of chaos construed by this. I was so proud to bring my friends to writers and point to which poems had won contest... and now I can't do that... It's just really a sad to see all the work every one put into this place... just disapear with one mouse click.

Hopefully everyone can recover from this. I know how hard it is. I used to just save my stuff on my computer, then one day it crashed and I lost years of work. So now I became a bit ocd with my work. First, I write it all on paper, then I type it into Word than I save it on my hardrive and USB, then I copy and paste it into here. So fortunatly none of my writing had been lost this time around, but it's so annoying having to obssessivly make duplicate copies to assure it will never be lost.

I still haven't gotten over the loss. I have tried to re-build, got back a few but about 50 pieces are still missing. I had saved copies on my laptop but sometime back the hard disk had crashed. I should have backed up again but I didn't do that immediatly.

I have learned from this incident, definitely.

This is such a exact description of what I went through.
I enjoyed reading this, though I kept wishing that you didn't have reason to write it.

We will never forget that fateful day, the horror, the shock and then the absolute bereavement. I miss your words too Kath but you will write more and it will be beautiful.

Luckily for me I was not on this site when the crash happened. Also my OCD means I keep at least three copies of my poems in different forms. I know this is how I would have felt though if I had lost my work. A few years ago I had a lyric book I'd write in and one day I just couldn't find it any more and it still pains me to think of the words I have lost. It is so much more than just time people put into their writing; like you said it is our heart and soul and we love what we put down as it is part of us. Hopefully this fine poem that you have constructed here will not be lost and will stand to represent what so many others must be feeling too. NH

Kath, I think your poem captures and conveys well something I had not fully appreciated until the great cafe crash...how attached and emotionally invested we are in our writings. They are the offspring of our creative minds. It is right to grieve their loss, so I won't offer any "chin up" speech...just feel your heartache and loss, and grieve with you.

I feel the same way you do about the missing work. It was a sad and heartbreaking day for me as well,. Thankyou for sharing, and your poem is very nicely done. Debileah
