I told you.

I told you.

A Poem by Michael Leon Wilson

I knew that I was right,
I knew that you could fly,
I knew that there was love
I knew there would be loss
I knew that you would be hurt
I knew you would feel so crossed
I knew that you would cry
I knew that it would sting,
I knew it would be ,
Ironic yes indeed
I wanted to watch you soar,
But you could only do so without me
Heavy is the weight
Cumbersome be the crown
Bloody be the profit
Open be his maw
As bloody truth falls out,
Deathly be his innards
Blacked with decay,
Knowledge be accursed
So many are better without me,
I wanted you to be better
So I placed the stakes against me
The effort became so skewed
The results ran right through me
Believe I take no impunity
Fault and blame I caress
Extinguished all my lights
So you could shine your best.
I snuffed the flame
Spoke your name
And let you do the rest.
I told you , you could fly
I told you you could soar,
I told you what you were worth,
I hoped you become much more,
I told you that I loved you
I told you that I cared
I told you that I held so dear
Every moment that we shared,
I told you I was slipping
I told you not to let me fall
I told you I'd chase forever,
No one said it'd feel so long
I told you if get better
I told you that I'd help,
I told you that I'm right.
I told you.... that you could fly.
I gave you hope and vanished,
Watching from your atrium
As you took your maiden flight.
Brilliant are your wings against this starry night,
I watch you fly straight into the moonlight
Then bank towards the forest directly to your right, I also saw you waiver , to see if I was watching,
Yes indeed my angel, I can see you fly,
Through my pain and through my tears
I smile, what i feel inside is pride.
I told you my angel,
I told you, you could fly.

Reminds me of my own feelings towards a grandson who I have raised with his two siblings. Emotionally they are stronger than him and far more independent. He suffers from mental health problems and needs lots of encouragement. He is like the bird with a broken wing. I have to stand back to allow him to reach his full potential. If I don't do that he will struggle when I am no longer able to help him. There is much love in your lines. I recognise that. Thank you fir this poem.

Thank you.
This show great amounts of love and confidence in someone else giving them the hope of love they need to venture to where they are going but it has a depth of sadness to it as well. A longing.

You were wrong
Hate to say it
I'm still a wreck no matter how long
I'm not soaring, I'm running
Trying to hide from the pain
Fighting to prove to you in vain
Stop being blind
Just come home
I'm tired of my mask
Im losing the fight
Im not soaring
Im hiding
Im trying to fly, I am
But then the hopeless weight falls
The pain whispers in my ears
The screams come and tell me what I've done
....you think you were right...
Dustin i need you for this fight
Let me know when you choose to open your eyes...
