Blue Moon

Blue Moon

A Poem by B L Bushong
"

This was the first sonnet I ever wrote, so it's only fitting that it's also the first thing I ever post on any website like this that I join. This was also my first upload to deviantart. So, anyway, hope you enjoy it.

"

Ah, love, beautiful and rare as a blue moon,
Oh, lust, pretty and common as a night star,
I hope the curse befalls me soon,
A blessing that could leave a scar,
And as the wind blows through the night,
Her perfume wafts through scented air,
The smell maks my heart featherlight,
As I watch the wind dance with her hair,
Her gentle touch makes me smile,
Her eyes are soft and warm,
I hope she stays with me a while,
Her absence does me harm,
I awake and check the time,
If a girl like that could just be mine.

Author's Note

This was originally written a few years ago, when I was first learning about sonnet structure. Though it was written to be a sonnet (the original title was "Blue Moon Sonnet", here I've just shortened it to "Blue Moon") it might not fit exactly as a sonnet, which I believe was some criticism it recieved on DA.
