Red

Red

A Poem by K.N. Stott
"

This poem describes, in intricacy the color red. It show what red represents through human eyes and all the emotions it is able to project.

"
Red
is the color
of her cheeks
when you winks at her
from across the room
It's the color of her lips
when you steal that first kiss
under the stars
bathed in moonlight
soaked in love
for one another
it's the color of her nails as she traces her fingers along your bare skin
for the first time
and you savor
every moment
like it's your last
its the color of the roses
you bring her
to try to make up
for your first fight
it's the color
of her blood
that stains your hands
after hitting her for the first
and last
time
it's the color of
the shattered pieces of her heart
that you left
scattered
it had been broken before
but the gave the best of herself
to you
its the color
of love
loss
radiance
pain
heartbreak
The color of her tears
and of your screams
knowing that you had just
lost
the most important thing
the only thing
holding you together
keeping you from sinking
down
   down
       down
deeper into your pit of depressing
It is a violently beautiful color
Red

I like the unfolding from the first experiences of love, to the intensity of harm and loss. A very uniques idea to use the color red to take us through the story. It speaks to me of grief and remorse- how we can take one action and destroy something beautiful - how a color like red, so filled with vibrancy and love symbolism can turn so quickly to a color of death and loss of something we cherish. Nice work!

This is lovely, the build up is perfect and the twist beautifully timed. Weirdly I have bright red hair- it resonated a bit.
