Divorce

Divorce

A Poem by K.M. Lucero
"

My own feeble attempt at poetry. Well its from the heart so yeah.

"

How has it come to this?

What happened to my life?

Where is the carefree girl I so miss

How did I end up a bitter ex-wife?

So in love and ready to begin

Now alone and so depressed

He left me to start again

Leaving me in such a mess

Crying has long since ended

Tears no longer can be shed

Now pieces must be mended

And I must lie alone in my bed

No one ever thinks life will go this way

We always have every detail planed

Then everything is taken away

And alone again we must stand

Wondering where the joy went

We are lost souls searching

Which way was our love sent?

Leaving us in dire yearning

Will love be given a second chance?

Or will we be forever left in the shadows

To our own silent dance

Will I ever again graze upon loves lush meadows?

In the US approximately one-half of marriages end through divorce. Although courts can treat the breakup like the division of a business partnership, it cannot begin to heal the pain both parties may feel. I hope this is a poem in which you imagine a divorce and that it is not a real experience for you. I especially liked the couplet "Crying has long since ended, Tears no longer can be shed."
