HurricaneA Poem by Karen ZimmerA poem for my boyfriend, Jake. I love you.It seemed That above everything
I was his Apocalypse
And he was the earth And it was always summer
But for some reason His sails Never saw The same storms that mine did
His skin surfed the mountains And his bones were the summits Sinking in comfort Into billowing waves so mindlessly Binding his skeleton
He understood the worry From the wind that pulled the currents In the same language as him
So I was aimless
He was mostly sea
And it was foolish of me
