Hurricane

Hurricane

A Poem by Karen Zimmer
"

A poem for my boyfriend, Jake. I love you.

"

It seemed

That above everything

I was his

Apocalypse

And he was the earth

And it was always summer

But for some reason

His sails

Never saw

The same storms that mine did

His skin surfed the mountains

And his bones were the summits

Sinking in comfort

Into billowing waves so mindlessly

Binding his skeleton

He understood the worry

From the wind that pulled the currents

In the same language as him

So I was aimless

He was mostly sea

And it was foolish of me

To try setting fire

To his astronomy

I enjoyed the poem. The description described personal places and thoughts. People are hard to pin down. Each with their own destination and dreams. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
