Roots

Roots

A Poem by Krystal Thomas

It’s spring but my leaves still haven’t grown in yet.

Maybe it’s the nature of my roots;

Or maybe I just don’t want you to love me.

Because being rough around my branches is more bearable than feeling your warmth attach to my colors and then leave when winter strips me of my golden.

ah! I like this poem....you have expressed your sadness very well. Good work and good imagery. Keep writing.

I'm gonna give you an actual suggestion. Switch those first two lines around. Don't be afraid of breaking up that fourth line, either. It's nice that it ends on "leave," but it's stickin' up like a middle finger on the page. Line breaks are an important part of good poetry writing, and beyond that, fun as s**t to put together. Stick with it, Kentuck.

My, my... I have no words to describe the emotion I felt during reading this. Great job, keep it up!
