The girl with the red gem

Danel encounters a girl with bright electric blue eyes and a red gem. What is this feeling in his chest when he looks at her.

Danel manged to get to school right on time, he struggled to get through the crowd of people to his classroom where his new classmates will be waiting, Danel was excited about this year, despite knowing that  he will have to deal with another year of beatings and insults from Mikie. 

But, hopefully something good will come out of today to make up for all the new bruises he will get. He knew he might see some familiar faces and he might see some new ones along the way. 

As he made his way into the classroom he was surprised at how loud and chaotic it was. Danel covered his ears and looked around the room.  Nearly every student was out of their seat making noise. 

Except for four students. Sisube was his classmate again Danel shivered when he felt the small goth girl look his way in the corner of her eye she scoffed when she saw him shiver and shook her head. 

The classroom was a stadium style seating with four different stair case entry ways leading to each row, Danel sighed when he noticed that the only empty seat was in the way back. 

Danel was a small thin kid, how was he going to see anything? 

Sarbe his cousin was in here too, she was talking to two small girls with pale skin and long black hair, they were identical twins named Ying and Yang. They were part of the Sky clan. 

Sarbe had mentioned having friends but the Storm clan and the Sky clan do not get along very well, Danel is not sure why but their seems to be a lot of bad blood between them and Danel was too scared to ask why. 

But, there was one girl that caught his eye, one that made him gasp with shock. Danel was too young to like girls, and for the most part Danel did not because they teased him a lot but their was something different about this one. 

She had big blue eyes the bluest Danel had ever seen with a bright red gem in her forehead and her long dark purple hair pulled back into a single braid with a black sweatshirt with pink flames. 

Danel did not know why but he felt odd around this girl, his heart sped up and he found himself fixated on her. So, fixated that he did not notice something fall on the floor causing him to fall and loose his balance. 

All of the classmates snickered and laughed all except for the girl that he started at she seemed angry. Furious even Danel gasped with surprise as her hair began to dance and light up like a candle light her eyes glowing. 

She stood up rushed down the stairs of the classroom and helped Danel up while giving anyone who laughed a death glare everyone stopped laughing and looked at the girl with fear. 

Even Danel froze in fear at the girl's cold stare, her stare could rival Sisube's it was then that Danel noticed the clan symbol on the back of her sweatshirt she was a Crystal clan member. 

Danel might not be known for his intelligence but this was one of those rare moments where he understood almost instantly who was in front of him. 

Fire Crystal second heir to the Crystal clan thrown Danel was royal too but the Storm clan were not nearly as rich and powerful as the Crystals. 

It was then that Fire turned and the sun light caught her face the exact moment she turned towards him, making her shine and sparkle like a angel. No, angel was too easy. Like a Phoenix! 

" Are you okay, that was a cruel prank that red head pulled on you, can you stand"? She asked kindly as she helped Danel up. Danel nodded dumbly his mind in auto pilot as he looked into her eyes. 

" Yeah I will be fine thanks". Danel said shyly as he looked at her his face becoming red as he let go of her hand. 

Fire blushed realizing that she did not let go of his hand, and then said, "Well, if you need a friend to help you out you know I will always be there to help you". 

Danel smiled and said, "My name is Danel, Danel Storm and who are you"? 

Fire's eyes looked at him with shock as if unsure how to react to him, he was probably the first person that treated her like a person and not a object of worship or admiration

 he understood as a royal what she must be going through. 

Fire looks down at the ground playing with her braid and for a moment all Danel could do was stare at her Danel was not sure what was happening to him or why this girl was so interesting to him but he was about to find out. 

"Fire Crystal, truthfully I asked you if you needed a friend is because I never had a friend before myself and I was hoping you would want to hang out with me". 

She said almost too sadly for Danel to take,tears started falling from her face as she started to turn away from him. She took his silence as rejection and started slowly walking back to her seat. 

Danel grabbed her hand and pulled her into her hug silencing the sad stray tears that fell from her face. and then smiled as he felt her heart beating faster too. 

Suddenly the shy awkward young boy did something courageous for the first time in his life he opened his mouth and said with determination and kindness.

 "Its okay, I will be your friend, you won't have to be alone anymore I will always be by your side even if you grow to hate me I will always be there to catch your tears". 

Fire did a sound a cross between a sob and a laugh and as she hugged him closer to her and said, "How could I ever hate you"? 

Suddenly Danel got punched down to the ground, Danel curled himself into a ball to keep him getting hurt more as the attacker kicked him to the ground forcing him to roll over and look at the ceiling. 

Danel did not have look to see who his attacker was, Danel had gotten picked on by him for a while but, never had they shared the same classroom Danel thought today was going to be a good day. 

"Hey leave him alone"! Fire said coldly her eyes staring deep into Mikie's. Danel had to resist the urge to flinch she might be cute and pretty but, do not get her mad.

Mikie and his friends laughed at her, Fire was small and thin like a twig she did not scare him. Although Danel could see he was a little bit frightened by her stare but, not enough for it to count. 

"I said leave him alone"! Fire shouted out suddenly the room became hotter people started sweating, and even Danel could feel the immense power coming from Fire.  

Mikie froze and told John-John, Arian, and his little brother Dan to stand back. They did it immediately their body language saying, You do not have to tell us twice. 

" I got this" Mikie said summoning his ice powers and starting shooting little tiny ice needles towards Fire, Fire winched when one of them shot through her sweatshirt. And another through her leg.

Fire took a deep breath and suddenly fire shot out of her mouth a circle of flames surrounded both Danel and Fire like a protective shell. Mikie tried to break through the shield but, bursts of fire shot him to the ground.  

He was knocked down almost instantly John-John and the others freaked out at the thought of their powerful leader being knocked out by a girl half their size. 

Fire held out her hand and helped Danel off the ground and said, "Are you okay, you do not have to worry about that guy anymore I swear that I will always be around to protect you". 

Danel blushed as he looked at the girl in awe, she was truly amazing he had no idea what this feeling was but he liked it, he did not mind his rapid beating chest. As he watched her suck in all the remaining flames and asked him to sit with her and her sister. 

Danel hoped that his powers will awaken soon, so that he could protect her too.
