Hell

Hell

A Poem by K. Hicks
"

Not meant to rhyme, the inspiration for this particular poem came to me while I was hiking. Granted it had become dark while I was hiking back down the mountain :D

"
Walking in the darkness the shadows creep.
Things slither around my feet.
Why am I here? How could this be?
There is no light at the end for me,
Lost in a world so cold,
Never to grow old,
Forever lost in darkness.
How did i get here? Was it because I passed judgment too often?
Was it because I allow myself to choose when I did not have a choice?
Save me please, the pain it hurts!
Crying out now, some one save me...

I have no right to ask for forgiveness.
I betrayed you and lost sight of you.
Let me be. The darkness is where I shall stay.

The darkness and shadows creep as I slip slowly into the deepest part of hell.

Wow this is a powerful and self-reflecting piece for anyone who reads it. At some point in life, everyone can relate to a time where they feel a wrong they've done should not be forgiven because they cannot forgive themselves...at least when their conscious permits. If you know He's there, then sight is not lost only temporarily blinded, even towards the end. Thanks for sharing

The visual that weaves within your words is intense and powerful. I can just see the dark shadows slithering around the trees, their ghost white bark glowing in the moonlight, and the tendrils from beneath the half rotton fall leaves, oozing up to wrap around one's feet and feed upon their very soul.

This would make a really good short story if you expanded it. Some legend of an old mine or a cave that no one comes back from.

Very much enjoyed!

This is a really dark and emotional poem. People often don't think about the outcome of their actions until it is too late. You did an amazing job.
