...my 21st century girlA Poem by Brave New WorldTo-day, I saw a painted face One that begs to be replaced
Her hair like machine gears She can no longer produce real tears
Lost in a modern world She's my 21st century girl! She's puts on her makeup and looks her best Hopes they won't notice her flat chest
No matter how she tries to fill her head Her heart and soul is dead
With each lover, she tries to find satisfaction Inside she knows, nothing will catch traction
Dizzy and in a swirl She's my 21st century girl!
Messages reel from her hair and spill a thousand signs Thanking fortune she'll never be mine
Belonging to some trailer trash Along with her TV mash
Fading downward like a wilted flower Losing tomorrow by the hour
Judging the game by its looks Matching the her life to stories off books
Eyes now blank as a pearl She's my 21st century girl!
Me, you know, would much rather Sit here now, and let dust gather
Listening to my Beatles and Rolling Stones Left here to cry and bemoan
Never could match your sythpop bands Chords and keyboards and artificial hands
Her dreams are fake and taste like plastic She wears a fake smile to try to mask it
The game was played before I rolled Emotions are never worth their weight in gold
...To-day, I saw a painted face One that I can not wait to replace
