One Note on the Musical ScaleA Poem by K.C. ZbrykThe notes roll across the planes Snaking through the trees Fighting their way through Cities, mountains, and valleys Through Rallies of contorted faces Through Lies wrapped in expensive suits They are echoed off the sickley Yellow skinned addicts The lost and wandering Those who have no purpose but to live Each day as if it were new And snuff it out as if it was a stale smoke Rebounding off the lost The hopeless Those who smoke their cigaretts Contemplating the end And waiting for the beginning Of what? They don’t even know. Passing the delusional The unstable Wrapping around the imagined reality Mimicking the voices Adding the soft sounds of tears Coupled with the jagged touch Of hysterical laughter The final addition to it all The piece that we hear first Are the high priced adds For expensive distractions Coupled with thousands of voices Repeating the same dreary news Day in and day out This is the music of society The hymn of civilization The notes roll across the planes Snaking through the trees Ending in one long prolonged scream 05/25/2012 © 2012 K.C.
