On the SceneA Poem by K.C. ZbrykSo they wandered in to the scene Of the crime Always the last to arrive And normally left with the worst of the work They were the cleanup crew Sometimes they felt as if They should just burn the places down But that’s not what they got paid for They got paid to make it look like Nothing ever happened The evidence is harvested And cataloged just before their arrival Pictures are taken Smears and spatters measured Motives and meanings are debated Long before they take up their task Some people never consider the work behind cleaning To scrub away the residues of something you can’t understand Something you may not want to imagine But they take this task in stride Scrub the walls clean and move on To the next tainted surface I wonder how often they clean But don’t really want the answer… 06/01/2013 0630 am © 2013 K.C.
