Speechless SuitA Poem by K.C. ZbrykTake a look in the mirror, boy Don’t fumble the buttons What is it that you think you’re getting prepared for? It’s more than a suit today Or perhaps it’s less But that really doesn’t matter Now does it? Just a suit And you live in a dream world A grandiose one at that But still only a dream world Where everyone has their suits Their smokes and their hats Which they courteously remove at the entrance Get the smoke out of your eyes And wake up This isn’t some interview that you can dream through This is something different There is no wedding here But it is a celebration If you can see through the tears Hence all the flowers “It doesn’t look like her..” Is what she said And I can’t really disagree “They could barely apply the makeup, Her skin was so fragile…” Yeah I noticed how it wasn’t in the creases of her closed eyes But I need to focus Because Because I haven’t been able to focus all day I’ve just been listless and wandering Until we were late and I was squealing through The intersections Just to make it to the mortuary on time Just a suit It can make you feel presentable Like someone may want to hire you It can make you feel like a mobster Ready and willing to extort Or it can highlight a burden One that just gets heavier as the day wears on Second by second it bloats And I wouldn’t trade it for the world But it still doesn’t change the fact that I have to say something And I haven’t been able to write Anything that would do justice To the person we have lost 04/10/2013 0303 am © 2013 K.C.
