Therapy?

Therapy?

A Poem by K.C. Zbryk
"

Put together from partial pieces. Frankenpoetry!

"

There has to be some clarity in place

In order to bring about change

Right?

I mean, there has to be

A defining goal

Some sparkling glorious

Priority

Yeah, that’s it

That’s a good word for this

Priority, that’s what’s needed here

Some cause to drive this alteration

In course, shove

These sub routine sub conscious

Early programmed trends

(Mother always said, ‘It’s the little ticks

That make the person unique.’)

Sometimes defined buy balding men with

Half spectacles as,

“Unhealthy thinking

Slow working premeditated

Unconscious self destructive behaviors…”

The doc looks up from his legal pad,

Momentarily,

Then continues,

“But with the right carrot,”

The right cupcake

Twinkie

Dangling from the end of the rope

Fishing pole set up

Taped to some poor b******s

Head

“We might just see

Some slight reason for

Optimism.”

So smile

Change hurts

“Is he taking to the sedative?”

The nurse gently asks the doctor

Almost as if her words would

Interrupt

His train of thought

The man stands on the other side of the table

Preoccupied with the instruments on the table

Just out of sight

“He seems to be taking fine.

Lets trepan him and make a better person.."

The nurse pauses for a moment

Just beside the patients table

Saying, "I wonder why he's smiling?"

But the doctor never noticed...

As much as I'm not a fan of psychiatric medication, I am a fan of your poetry which is almost always as insightful as a fantastic psychological thriller. I really don't know what works or doesn't work. Ultimately, it's all about comfort with one's conscience or so I think. I don't think that a lofty goal or a dramatic ambition lead to anything substantial. Even when I look at the most successful of people--the ones who actually say that it's because of ambition that they succeeded in social or other terms--I see human beings who simply tried to live with their conscience and ended up unlocking some extra doors of their mind--or maybe not even extra ones but ones different from the ones that are unlocked in mine. Or, maybe I'm just trying to explain away my social failures. Haha! :P ~ Thank you for this unbelievably brilliant piece of writing. It's incredibly thought-provoking for someone like me--as you can tell (from this comment of mine).
