Intrusive NoteA Poem by K.C. ZbrykIt always lingers Nags even Scratching its brittle nails On the outside of my door Whispering Beneath the crack Between the door and its frame Begging for some kind Any kind Of attention Wiled eyed Frantic, jittery, motions No worries other than Its’ own simple existence And the blind eye Its’ been shown The fingers feel for a pry Dig into the defining lines Pick at every loose panel They shift To the worn knob Checking to see… If someone forgot to lock… No But, There is no deterring This repetition There is no stopping These frantic actions It repeats each cycle meticulously The floor left worn from its passing Back and forth It will not leave And the sounds from the other side Of my door Must be addressed So I twist the deadbolt And turn the handle Only to find a note pinned on the outside ‘Just a thought Will come back later…’ 01/24/2013 0650 am © 2013 K.C.
