In VainA Poem by K.C. ZbrykHe blinded himself to the world around him Drove the brand into his eyes to take away the insufferable Oh the scars were magnificent And he did enjoy the darkness for a moment But the thoughts, the dreams, the sensory illusions Like a phantom limb, they haunted him At first it was like reminiscing Remembering the artistry he had removed Himself from All the beauty of the word He no longer had access too It was similar to a testament Of all the glories he wanted to keep Replaying endlessly on loop Behind the mass of thick scar tissue But this was not to last Soon nightmares haunted him Permeated this dreamscape Washing through the valleys and trees Like some septic waste His dream was subject to necrosis There was a poison present in his escape Rotting out the blue skies and shadowed nights Fading his beloved memories To a jaundiced yellow Letting the horrors slip beside Behind and within Every image he held dear To his dismay he realized In an attempt to escape the sick world Around him The one that assaulted him every day He had somehow managed To immerse himself In it entirely And now he was even Unable to weep Having seared the ducts closed As well 01/09/2013 0640 am © 2013 K.C.
