VoicesA Poem by K.C. ZbrykIt’s like having an amnesiac conscience some days So many voices pulling in too many directions And each one has an answer for my unasked question The invisible tethers tugging towards unseen doors Just because they claim to see the clockwork turning Right behind my eyes Yes the guiding voice has been drinking again Hence the current change in modus operandi So the chorus overwhelms While my conscience passes out And the array of doors ahead All swing open in unison The speaker overhead crackles to life As a bored voice mutters ‘This is an unacceptable place to loiter You must make a decision now Or one will be made for you Thank you for your attention And your use of the public notification system’ I wait for the slurred obscenity That my intoxicated cricket is bound to utter But for once there’s nothing Silence from all sides And a joyous moment to think I look for some answer A bright glaring fix to the entire scenario But nothing shows up So I’m taking A shot in the dark 12/27/2012 0124 © 2012 K.C.
