Detached (noos kcab eb)A Poem by K.C. ZbrykThere was a growing vacancy in the time Like an eclipsing absence, a spreading void One could imagine the body itself Becoming removed from its own functions Food would not satisfy nor stave off any hunger To bite an apple even would drive the gums back Towards the root of the teeth, so loose in their sockets, Causing droplets of red to spring up between the yellow But this is not so Just the imagination lost in the timelessness That is what this has to be The sheer lack of time or the overabundance Driving all meaning from the word time itself Too much time not enough time It’s all the same feeling attached to the same Five letter word with an addendum beside it stating See discontent and pressure See detachment from the reality on the other side of the glass Doesn’t matter which one you pick Window pane snow globe fish tank windshield It’s all just moving things on the other side of the wall It’s funny to imagine breathing on the polished surface, My glass wall, to leave a note like, ‘be back soon’ Because the words to them are all reversed 11/16/2012 0109 © 2012 K.C.
