Snow GlobeA Poem by K.C. ZbrykWake up with a fist full of rocks Walk to work under the dome And dust yourself off at the door Repeat those well rinsed reactions Reuse those canned responses Each one snapped off Like a good quip Like a beer cap Clinking on the floor Signaling the next big drink Of self medication Wander in to the same thing For the same outcome My pittance of a paycheck Just to stare at the clock Just like yesterday My glass dome and the liquid motion The listless shifting Day in and day out Preaching and praying for the some outcome To the countless unresolved issues Ignored errors And repeated idiotic movements We find some other thing to distract us Some other minute topic That seems so grandiose right now But tomorrow It may as well be a speck That the janitor missed Last week Everything here in my snow globe Comes carbon dated Time stamped And has a monitor present Just to beep and let us know it’s still there All I want to do is wake up With a fist full of rocks And approach the glass Is that so wrong? 10/04/2012 - 0346 © 2012 K.C.
