Moving

Just a short intro

This, I thought. This is not what I'd expected.

I looked around the half empty streets. There were only about thirty people walking around the town. The place was small, that's for sure.

"What do you think?" Mom asked, leaning over my shoulder. I frowned. 

"Hm," I said. I could practically see my mother scowl too. She wanted a long answer, but didn't push it. In truth, I hated it. I wanted a bustling city, with honking cars and lights at night, not a quiet colonial town.

Add more detail to it and some imagery. Love it

The only thing I wondered when reading this was if the mother was scowling at his answer, or at the town being so small. Write some more :)
