It’s Catching Up

It’s Catching Up

A Poem by Jym Parrella
"

Sometimes you feel like your drowning but you fight just to keep swimming.

"
Waves crash over me like falling bricks
I’m trying to reach the shore for relief
I keep my head above the waterline
I won’t give up
I broke her heart.... crash
Mental illness.... crash
Debt.... crash
Will it ever end, would it be easier to check out
I can’t, I have too many counting on me
You have to walk through hell to get to Heaven
I reserve myself to this, open my eyes and scream to the skies “I’m not dead yet!”
It’s catching up, growing close but I won’t let the dark inside me pull my legs under
I will stay afloat until the waves ease to calm waters
I will deal with the tides
I will be relentless in my will to fight
