My Friend Murphy

My Friend Murphy

A Poem by Jvonne

Murphy my friend paid a visit today.

I won the lotto this morning
and lost my ticket
I was on time for a meeting
and no one came
I photographed the ghost of Elvis
and my camera broke

Murphy my friend paid a visit today

You finally gave me your number
and I lost my phone
You walked into my direction
and I lost my nerve
I wrote you a letter
and the post office was closed

Had dinner at my favourite restaurant
and lost my wallet when the bill came
Went to bed wanting to sleep like the dead
And they had a party next door…

Murphy my friend paid a visit today

This breaks up the others one...
I've read...the irony speaks...
yet everyone has a friend name Murphy...
one way or another...

I have to admire the cleverness and the irony in this, it really is great.

Reminds me of Alanis Morissette's song Ironic.

Good and interesting read

I like how you didn't come strait out and say Murphy's true identity, it keeps the reader compelled and makes for a comical and allegorical tale. Good job.

I love this poem. It feels like you have a second voice in your head coaxing your movements throughout the day.

Keep scribbling ;)

Murphy can be a perpetual pain in the rear sometimes. Of all the people, it's a shame he's the one guy everyone knows. A very funny poem.

According to Murphy`s law, if it can be screwed
up, broken or lost, it will, but only when you need
it, or desperately want it .
Hilarious , fun , wild and funnnneeeee'....
Thanks,
---- John
